Hi guys! I am studying methods of training a marathon runner for my examination & need some advice from any distance runners here. First of all I would like to admit that when it comes to aerobic training I am at a complete disadvantage. Put it this way,I am fairly lean(10%) but I am 5'11" & 220 lbs & the last time I remember doing any serious running I had a rather large dog chasing me(LOL).Through extensive research I feel I have came up with a good plan but I have a few questions regarding some finishing touches. First of all I plan on keeping carbs high to prevent muscle catabolism during aerobic work but what about the addition of 8 ounces of a protein/carb mix & 5grms of BCAA's in between the weight training & cardio portion of the session? I know the carbs & protein would prevent catobolism but what about the bodies ability to digest at this time? Any alternative suggestions? Also I was planning on including brief, intense aerobic sessions during the week & a longer distance session on sunday. Should I avoid any distance running & stick with HIIT until towards the end of the training program to avoid burnout or is it best to include it from the start? Once again thank you all & take care!
