I'm doing the 3-day-a-week Progressive Gains ft program. I need to figure out when in the program I should do aerobic exercise (i.e. bike) and how long each session on the bike should last.

I did a search on the mailing lists and I can't get a good handle on this. Am I right in the understanding that you can warm up on the bike for about 5 minutes prior to lifting, but don't do a full session on the bike until after you've finished all your sets? What about on the off-days of the weight training schedule - should you hit the bike then instead?

I'm asking this because, while I need to do some aerobics, I don't want it to negatively affect the muscles gains that I achieve with the weights.

Thanks for any tips... John

There are many schools of though on this....you can do a warm up on the bike then do some cardio after lifting. Also you can do cardio first thing in the morning, emplty stomach on non lifting days.
