My abs are hard. I don't want the six pack. I am too lazy to ever diet enough.
In efforts to gain mass, I have been eating alot. My abdominal cavity or organs behind it seem to be pushing out more. Is this something that will subside when I go back to maintenance calories? Or do I need to work my abs differently?
Is it just necessary to have a larger core to make gains elsewhere?

yes your core will get bigger as you continue to train to stay in proportion with the rest of the body.......no worries...
