Ok, I am starting an ab exercise program tomorrow and I am curious about how I can get a certain look....I see a lot of female celebs/models whatever with a certain cut in their stomachs.(On the sides of their stomachs that kind of angle down towards the lower pelvis) I thought for so long only men can have this but I guess after the introduction of the low-cut pant, we see that woman have this cut also...I'm sure you know what I'm talking about...I will list people who have is...Britney, Pink, Carmen Electra....it's weird because some women who are just as fit don't have it at all? So I'm assuming either it is genetic or you have to work at it a certain way??? I may sound clueless to most of you fitness experts....I just want to have that look and would like to know how??
Thank you! :)

Doesn't sound clueless at all. I'm guessing what you're referring to are the obliques. Check out the Exercise Resources at the top of the page and there's some pretty in depth info. Click on Muscle targeting, then Abs & Obliques. You're right to a point that genetics has a role but when it gets right down to it for the majority of people, it's muscle tone and body fat (or lack of).

And as far as the layer or body fat on the stomach...cardio and calorie cutting correct? - to get rid of that?

That's correct but I'm assuming that you know you can't spot reduce. Overall muscle development has an awful lot to do with muscle definition plus, not knowing your knowledge level, it's easy to let calorie cutting cause more harm than good. I'm not trying to sound to basic but it's hard for some of us to give informed opinions when we aren't sure where people are starting from so bear with us. :)

i have been readinga lot of research showing low carb diets " eat" more fat away from the mid section area. Ever one is differnt though so i dunno but if u want abbs ur gonna have to work out and watch what u eat, contrary to what the infomercials say, theres no pill or make invention that will give u a six pack in just 6 weeks workoout watch what u eat and u'll love the rewards u'll get
