So, I've stated to the whole world it seems how big I have let myself get, and my new willpower to change myself.

So I have a question concerning my workouts. Right now I am doing the Tae Bo boot camp Basic Training tape. My plan was to use it every day, minimum 10 minutes or more if I could manage.

It's basically cardiovasular activity, with lots of "combat training" moves. Punches, kicking, squats, jogging in place ect. My question is, a couple of days I have been REALLY SORE, and skipped the next day.

I know when lifting, rest days are essential, but I also know that doing cardio 4-5 days a week is a great thing. The soreness I feel is exactly like what I felt when I was lifting before. Should I then rest the next day if I do get sore, or treat it just like cardio and continue every day whether I am sore or not? Sorry it's so long, I am just trying to treat this properly. :)

i am not sure exactly, but if i were u i'd probably rest my muscles. u cant get the most out of your cardio workout if ur muscles r sore. Plus if the soreness is the same as the soreness u felt in lifting, maybe u should treat it the same, and let ur muscles heal instead of getting more damaged?........

My thinking was(and this is why its embarassing) is that I have gotten big enough, that raising my arms to punch, and do circles, push ups, side lunges, squats ect....could very well be like lifting weights to my muscles at this begginning stage. That was why I felt I should ask. To see if I'm thinking on the right track, or if I'm way off and should treat it like doing the eliptical machine or tredmill.

I believe you are just experiencing soreness from shocking your muscles with the new activity. When I started back to wt training I hurt for a week, and I mean hurt!! I could barely lift my arms and walking was an experience in itself. Just remember to start out slow and work your way up. Use how you feel as a guide, but not an excuse not to workout. I'd suggest continuing with a workout on your scheduled day, but take it easier-even go for a brisk walk instead, lots of stretching etc. It does get better with time, but you can also reshock the muscles with a new activity and get DOMS all over again...I now know that when I get DOMS it means I've hit a muscle group I've been neglecting and therefore need to work on that area! A week ago I worked my inner thighs and sure felt it for the next few days, but now it doesn't bother me even with an increase in resistance.

Keep it up CristalBelle you're on the right track!!

Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

I would still stick to some sort of routine. It's so easy in the beginning to get out of wack, before the habit is established, so even though you are sore, try to do something at the same time as your regualar workouts. Someting like some slow stretching, a nice walk, just so you're still doing something, but still allowing the muscles to rest.

thing is aboutthis bootcamp.....is your moving your body "forcefully" as to punch or kick....what are you doing when you move weights? Applying force to move it...welcome to the world of the fast twitch muscle fibers....fast twitch muscle fibers alow you to move things fast. Weither it be a bar, db or a punch or kick. So if your used to doing higher reps failry slow and controlled.....then this IS a shock.

TO me it sounds like you are sore because your body isn't used to this workout. The good thing is that this DVD seems like it will give you a good workout! I would say don't push yourself too hard but DON'T give up. Good Luck!:)
