Hi all,
I have been doing weight lifting for many months now. I have made progress as I used to be very skinny. I am 20 years old and I weight 90 kg and am 180 cm tall. My weekly routine is as follows: Monday – Biceps / Triceps Tuesday- Rest Wednesday – Shoulders/back Thursday- Biceps / triceps Friday- rest Saturday – rest Sunday – Chest/ Legs Now since last week I have also started doing abs on Tuesday and Friday as the 12 week program has suggested. I do all my weights at home. I used to go to the gym. But I invested in a lot of free weights and a bench. I feel like I am working out as hard as I possibly can. I change my routines around every months or so as soon as I feel I am getting used to the old routine. Now the problem: As you can see by my pic my chest just isn’t right. Its doesn’t seem to grow. I push it and it hurts. I do Flat bench , incline Dumbells , decline Dumbells (fliers for both). There realy isn’t much I haven’t tried. My over all goal is just to be nicely cut up . I wouldn’t mind putting some more size on either. I eat very healthy. As I never eat junk. My meals consist of tuna, turkey, eggs… I have been around these boars for a long time and have learned whats good and what isn’t… WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?? Thanks in Advance! |

I don't see a pic.-------------- Would it be classified as overly competitive if I refused to let a 4 year old beat me at chutes and ladders? |

I do bi's and tri's twice a week because that’s what my Ft program set out for me. To have it twice. Do you think that this isnt a good idea? My diet is good. In the morning ill eat 4 eggs or cereal. Than at round 12 some Tuna or chicken. Later on about 2 ill have a protein shake. at around 5 ill have some tuna again. And before i go to bed some coteege cheese and green tea. After a workout i always have a protein shake. I do abs twice a week ( just started). I am on the 12 week ab program. I started doing cardio. Running every morning doing h11t. But then after reading i got the impression it wasn’t such a good idea if I am trying to gain! I do play indoor soccer twice a week and that’s a workout and a half! My biggest problems are: My chest doesn’t seem to shape up, I got love handles that become all the more evident once I sit down. Thanks in advance! |

I really don't see any reason to do bi's and tri's twice a week. Your triceps are involved in your chest workout. I think they may be getting overworked. How long have you been working out? I have the same problem with my chest, mainly the top of it. A solid ab routine will bring out your chest. Think about it; your stomach gets flatter and your chest looks better. You may want to have asimmer or BB1 take a look at your diet. I dont think you are eating enough.-------------- Would it be classified as overly competitive if I refused to let a 4 year old beat me at chutes and ladders? |

If I cut one of the days off , what should I do instead. Should I divide my shoulder back day into two?
I have been working out for 2 years or so. BUT one of those years I really didn’t know what i was doing. I would just do some bench and than lift weights. I came here and talked to a few trainers I know and started getting a better idea. So about a year ago I started diving up my workout. I feel as if I have finally figured out what its all about. When i go to the gym now I work out really well, no stuffing around. I agree. If I could get my abs sticking out it will bring out my chest. I can feel my abs under the fat. When I flex I can see the top 4. What I don’t get is I eat so healthy! Why am I not loosing this stomach fat! If asimmer or BB1 would like to help me in anyway possible it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time hec! |

Like Hec stated, work your tri's and bis once a week.
You should do them on seperate days, and legs should be done alone also. That way, you get to spend more time on the chest, and remember that the tri's also work parts of the chest. I don't know your routine , so I can't comment on that. Good Luck. -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Hmmm I wonder about why you have your love handles...
Try to do cardio like 3 times a week. For 30-45 minutes. When you eat your tuna, etc., are you using bread? If so, try to use stoneground whole wheat not white. good luck.. |

i aint really been bothered to read the other peoples posts here but just by reading your first post you have stated that you do chest exercises and your "chest" hurts... that to me is a sign of growth i think you could be overtraining your chest if you aint letting it recover from one workout till your next, but hey just advice take it or leave it, i believe every workout should be aimed to be better then the last weather you do it quicker, heavier or what ever if you aint doing that at least i think your just over trained
