Hey everyone!
i am just trying to think of a way to bring fitness to the masses. I have been mulling it over in my head for quite some time and am trying to come up with a low to no cost way to provide urban families with fitness activities.
There are plenty of lower cost comunity education type classes, but many peolpe still won't or can't attend them because the cost is prohibitive (or the cost is an excuse not to do it).
I have been formulating this 'family fitness challenge' in my head, a sort of renegade boot camp.
With the 'epidemic' of obesity in the US, I am wondering if there might be a way to obtain funding for something like this.
Does anyone have any experience in grant writing or this type of thing?
Maybe I should form a non-profit agency?
Or maybe just post flyers that state the time and city park that the fitness event will take place and hope families show up?
I am also wondering about legal aspects, I carry insurance as trainer and a company, but would I have to have every aprticipant sign a waiver?
Gosh, so many questions.
Any answers or ideas would be appreciated greatly.
Oh, and go out there and start your own fitness revolution by encouraging soemone you love to go for a walk with you, or to the gym, or even just do some squats in place!!!!!

Amy, send my wife an instant message. I'll tell her to look for it. She used to write grant proposals at U of South Carolina.

My exercise journal and the interaction with the others who keep them is very motivating for me. I also enjoy looking back at where I was at any given time. People who keep the journals also make comments and suggestions.

I used to get a lot from your journals too , Amy...hint hint.
