I've been invited to do a hard-body contest in March. I accepted since I was invited. Now i'm nervous cuz I've never showed off my body to anyone. There's only about 5 other guys and I'll be the smallest in both age and size wise. I need some good advice!! I don't expect to win but I want to come close. There is still a cash reward to everyone. I know the other's will have several years over me and I am a slim looking guy. Any ideas? I'm in my 5th 8wk steady gains plan and doing 20-25min cardio 3x/wk. I'm bumping it up to 5x/wk. Good/Bad idea? I'm mostly just hoping to get my abs to really come out and just have an overall hard-body. That would mean low BF? I'm on creatine, protein supp., vitamins and aminos. I'd appriciate any good advice.
And my pics need to be update.

I'll check BF soon enough. Last time It was about 8%. Then I did a 12wk bulk period and gained plenty of everything.

My daily "diet" is basically the same...here's a sample
meal 1: 1/4 cup oatmeal, shake
meal 2: turkey sandwich on whole wheat
meal 3: meats, either chicken breasts or tuna or lean meats
meal 4: shake w/fruit
meal 5: meats, varies
meal 6: shake w/small snack (PB)
pre-wo: shake w/fruits or oatmeal
post: shake w-malto/dextro/vitamins/amino/glutamine/creatine
I don't count my calories or protein intake. I just eat what feels about right.

Training 3x/wk. Cardio for about 20-25min following ea. session. And may add two more days.

Supplements include: Protein, Vitamins, Aminos, Flaxseed, (mono)creatine, glutamine, dextrose/maltose, and V12 (creatine)

Anything else?

I'm happy with my results so far but I'm not sure if I'm in good enough shape to "compete" even though it's not a real competition. It's more like a male version of a wet t-shirt contest.
I don't have a camera now since I broke my PC's cam.

ok so you odnt have excess of fat to lose... thats good, it is a beginning.

let me see if i get the pic.
you want to compete but you dont know if you are good enough to stand agaisnt the others? well, with pout a pic is kind of hard to tell...LOL
But what do you want to do? want to get ripped even more?

dont worry if you dont feel like you are ready to compete. have fun on this one. besides, it will help you as an experience for you and will help you so you know what to expect and how to feel when you going on the stage for good.

I'm probably within (or close to) the low BF level.
Basically, yeah, I want to get more ripped. Freaky ripped.
I do want to make this as a fun thing but I also want to make sure I get some results.
I want to get ripped, but I could really use some extra mass. I know I can't do both, so what do I do?

Right now, I can't see myself going on a stage on a competition level, But I just want to know that If I did want to, I would feel confident enough to do it.
I'll see about getting some pics up.

Cut out your breads and add more veggies. Fibrous vegetables will help you lose fat.

Add a little fat to your diet in the form of olive oil or MCT oil.

Cut your fruit out, except on Sundays - on Sundays have fruit and rice and a little less protein than during the week.

Make fish a main protein source, and extra lean beef.

Up your water intake to a gallon a day, if not there already.

Umm, 5 weeks isn't a lot of time.

asimmer,
less bread, more veggies..done
No Fruit, except Sundays w/rice and less protein...done
More fat aside from flaxseed.(?)..done

I've been eating lots of wheat bread lately, for sandwhiches etc. Is that bad?

Any particular type of fish/lean meat that will be easy to make? Does tuna count?

I have trouble getting in a gallon or more per day. Mostly b/c I don't always have a way of getting it unless I'm home.
5wk's will go be real quick, wonder if I can do it?

Thanks!! Keep it coming... :)

Nice suggestion. Doing it, I realize that I wasn't taking in as much water as I thought. My bladder is on a role :(

I have 2 wk's left not including this week. I need to get my stats checked. I feel I have a long way to go to lose the unwanted BF. Water intake is 1gl. I'm trying to get more in, but it's not that easy for me. Trying to eat more veggies, less fruits etc. And trying to lift harder (not easy when trying to cut). Sticking to my "diet" isn't easy with my families eating habits either. I'm either tempted by food that I don't need or lack of.

After reading a pre-competition article I've decided try it out. I've customized it...

Cardio - 5x/wk 15-25min. Mon-Fri, twice on friday.
Weights - 3x/wk under 45min each.

Question: Should I do cardio before breakfast (in the morning) or right after weights?

Starting next week:
6 Meals, include -
*Cinna-Raisin Crunch Cereal
*Egg Whites
*Broccoli
*Oatmeal
*Eye Round Steak
*Cream of Rice
*Rice Cake
*Lean Turkey
*Tuna

Supplementing with -
*Maltodextrin/Dextrose
*Esterified Creatine
*BCAA
*Multi-Vitamin
*Glutamine
*AST VP2 Whey Isolate
*AST Ny-Tro PRO-40 (MRPS)
*Flaxseed Oil
