OK, so here's the deal. I just finished my chest day and I noticed something really quite frustrating. First off, I could not increase weight on anything incline. Second, when I tried to increase weight on flat dumbell, I could not lift the dumbbells into position to even attempt a rep. I don't have the advantage of having a spotter, so everything I do is solo. Can someone give me some advice on this? Anything would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hey Mike - As far as not being able to increase on inclines, could be several things but depending on how long you've been doing this, it takes time and intensity. Flat bench db's can be awkward but I go fairly heavy without a spotter. I'm hell on describing things but I'll give it a shot - Sit on the bench, db's on your thighs and using you're butt as a pivot - rock your whole body back onto the bench. As you're going back, bring your legs up also and the db's will almost be in the start position as you reach the bench. Try it out with some light weights, it works fairly well without a spotter.

Incline bench work involves other supporting muscles unlike flat bench work. Sounds like you need to develop these. Try decreasing the weight by 30% or more your next time out. In time, these supporting muscles will help you lift more weight. In the meantime, decline pushups will help.
I don't use a spotter either, but can go fairly heavy with dumbbells when doing presses and flyes. It just takes a little time for you to adjust to the weights.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Mike. I'll try that. And Robert, I'll try decreasing, at least in my first set. I have a feeling that that's what tired me out to begin with.
Thanks,
