Hi,
My new program calls for some excersises that I don't have machines for..
Can anyone recommend the most suitable substitutes I could perhaps use for excersises such as Leg presses, seated calf raises, donkey calf raises ?
In my previous routine I just replaced any calf raises with standard calf raises. Is this ok ? Not sure about what to replace leg presses with. I have free weights, and a basic multigym to choose from (York 2001). I think mostly it's just going to be leg excersises I'm going to struggle with, as far as equipment goes (at least I hope that's all anyway!)
Thanks in advance,
Rob.

Rob,
I just asked the exact same thing on the Beginners list - when you get an answer, let me know :-)
Seriously, I'm in the same boat - I have a home gym (BodyCraft xPress) without a leg press. I'm currently trying to figure out what a "standard calf raise" is (I assume it's standing with your toes on something like a small board?). But in general, there are some exercises that I don't have machines/weights for. I was hoping there was some site (either here on ft or elsewhere) that has something like a cross reference - e.g. look up seated calf raise and it gives you a couple of alternative or substitute exercises.

You could do squats instead of leg presses or lunges.

I'm with ya mazzgolf, if you find a cross-reference like that then gimme a shout! The 'standard calf raise' mentioned, I do just as you said btw.
Lumina, trouble is, my first days routine gives me squats first, then follows themn with leg presses! Ouch! Maybe the lunges will have to come into play, as you suggest.
Can't wait ;)
