Mass workout with creatine -- Week 5
I’m plugging along with only subtle, but worthwhile changes. Someone who hasn’t seen me since December saw me and said, “Dude, you been working out?” I had to laugh, since I’ve been working out for quite some time. Guess it just wasn’t noticeable before.
I just finished Week 7 of the Special 12 Week Mass Program (which for some reason goes for 14 weeks), and I like the variety the program offers. I also like the way body parts are done in a non-traditional way. For example, I always worked the push and pull muscles (back/biceps, chest, /triceps) separately, but on this program, I’m doing chest and biceps together, and shoulders with triceps. It’s interesting. I love doing back separate, because I can really devote all of my efforts to what has always been my weakest body part. I can’t believe that I’m actually starting to get truly visible lat “fans.”
I’ve really been pushing myself too. Maybe a little too much so, since I can finally see results from my efforts. Soreness has been an issue, although it hasn’t been unbearable. Maybe that’s a side benefit of the Creatine. My work schedule will increase dramatically for the next few months, which might mean a switch from early morning workouts to evening workouts. That shouldn’t be a problem, but I have enjoyed lifting in the AM while I was fresh.
Once again, thanks to the experienced lifers for the encouragement. And for the beginners, let me just reiterate that I’m 47, 6' 1" tall, and a text book ectomorph, but with the guidance of Freetrainers, and a little help from 5 weeks on CellTech Creatine, I’ve made tremendous gains. I started with the FT intermediate program for 10 weeks or so, then started taking CellTech when I moved up to the mass program. In approximately 17 weeks (total), I’ve gone from 165 pounds to 182 pounds. My clothes fit better (the new ones, anyway) and I feel stronger. Stick with the program, and be patient. The gains will come.

Well done, Rick...keep up the good work! Sounds like the hard work (and creatine) are really paying off!

Thanks, Robert --
The only snag in the works is after shoulder exercises. This has been an ongoing problem for me, but the day after "shoulder day," my traps are so sore, I can barely turn my head. It goes away in a few days, but I wish it didn't happen at all.

Rick, try heating it after your workout. I use a combination of a little Ben-Gay (unscented) and a heated gel pack. Heat helps to relax the muscle.

rick - this might not be your problem but.... I had sporadic problems with my spinal area on my traps after doing heavy shrugs and I've been working out for years. A friend of mine was watching me one day and noticed I kept pointing my head down toward the end of a set as I was getting fatigued. Seems like a small matter but you can put on more stress than you'd think.

Whoa, I think I do that too. I'll be sure to watch it. I already have a bad back anyways.
Thanks. Nate

That's a good point. I'll try to watch for that. Thanks!
