Is there any facts to back up whether it's better to workout in the morning than evening? |

work out time is best in the morning, your energy levels are high, your muscles are rested and it's a good time to burn body fat if that is one of your goals. As billk said your testosterones are higher also. |

The factors mentioned come into play but so does the fact which time of day do you prefer. Some folks like to workout early and some later in the day. Try a variety and log in your book what were your results and how you feel before and after your workout. |

your metabolism is also boosted and you will feel more energetic throughout the day. My focus is also better first thing in the morning. |

I totally agree with Skylar. Sure it is ideal to work out in the morning....IF you do it. But if you are more likely to skip your morning workout than try a more agreeable time of day. The missed workouts will hurt your progress than working out at a "less than optimal" time of day. |

Dude,It's a little tough to get used to it, but it is much better to lift in the morning. Your muscles are more responsive and they are refreshed. You just aren't used to the shock of being up that early probably. How early are you going. I go at around 6:45 to 7:45 or 8. Go with what is comfortable I guess. Don't give up so fast though. Stay focused. MerlinHogDog. |

Well, the evening is better as because the central nervous system is completely active then,in the mornings the system is slower right after sleep. But if you workout something like an hour after you wake up in the morning, I guess its the same thing. |

I have read all the messages. What if you work nights? Does this all aplly to the time right after you wake up or does time of day have an effect as well?-------------- jarisman, USMC |

jarisman, the best time of day to workout is the time that you like best, and are most likely to stick to. There are probably theoretical reasons to workout at every possible time of the day, but if you hate working out in the morning and are more likely to lose motivation then stick to evening workouts, and vice versa.

Morning workouts seem to entergize your metabolism. I think the biggest factor is that you've done the workout before work and starting your day. I believe there's a mindset to be healthy during the day as you've taken the time to get to business early on. :dumbbell:

I would love to switch to mornings as well, but as another member in this thread mentioned I would also have to get up at 3:30am to work out, get dressed, and drive to work on time. Anyone else here actually get up early who needs to be AT WORK at 7am or before? I would imagine I would be useless before I even left work.
What sucks about working out when I get home is that I am done about 7pm ... I try to goto bed before 11pm, which means after chugging all that water I often wake up at 3am cause I have to pee.. lol I can't win. |
