If you hate to run but need the cardio, try this. A friend told me about a way to build up to running 30 minutes non stop. You will work 30 minutes per day. On the first day you will run for 1 minute then walk for one. Keep this up for 30 minutes. On day 2 you will run for 2 minutes and walk for 1. Keep this up until you have worked for 30 minutes. Each day, add 1 minute of running and walk for 1 minute. (ie: on day 20 you will run for 20 minutes and walk for 1 then you will run for another 9 minutes. This will total 30 minutes.) You have to stick with it to get the total benefit. He says that after a week or so, you will be tempted to go for it and just run for the entire 30 minutes, but try hard to stick with it. I have just started it and so far it is going good. I hope this works for you, good luck. BILL

Nice...my football coach in college used to make us do something similar, but with sprinting....sprint 20 yrd. - jog 20 yrds..and so on.....it really sucked at first, but it did wonders for my endurance as far as sprinting goes.

That's something we still do in our athletics club, like Spedward said it's great for endurance.WHat we do is sprint 100m walk back 50 ,sprint 100 and so on until you've gone all round the track. Just a shame that they make us feel like we're gonna throw up!!!

I'm gonna hafta try this myself... I have to take semi-annual physical readiness tests in the Navy. Part of the test includes doing a 1.5 mile run in under 13:15. Perhaps this will help me not only meet the standard, but actually exceed it.
