What other exercise can I substitute for the leg press??

Hip sled, hack squats, sissy squats, squats, or if you have a smith machine try laying on your back and putting the bar on the soles of your shoes and pressing it that way.

SQUATS, SQUATS, SQUATS thats what works best for me anyways, hurts like hell but i get results.

try front squats or lunges

the best anh hardest is squats they build up the legs and strengthen them

you can always do
lunges using dumbbells
lunges using a barbell
side lunges
squats - there's a lot of versions of the squat
hack squats

what I do is do an exercise for a while (2 months) then change it all together and try some new one.

lunges are pretty similar ..however, the presses are excelent exercise..it allows you to go heavy, and feel the stretch in your thighs ...
