In the movie ferrigno and columbu dont go all the way up on their reps..which works better half way or lock out

Full range of motion is the best.. for most. The more stretch you get on a muscle in any given exercise.. the more muscle tissue you stimulate, therefore encourage to grow.
Half reps will leave your muscles underdeveloped I believe.
The thing to remember is big stretch and big squeeze.

I feel the full range would be best but still avoiding lock out becaue it takes the stress off of the muscle, as if you were resting.

yeh but arnold you stretch when u go down and i think not locking out keeps the tension on the muscle the whole time

I believe that the stretch is very important. It doesn't mean you have to lock out.. you can still keep your elbow slightly bent and still stretch the muscle at work.

Well, you saw this on a movie, and I believe that movies are, well, fiction on the most part. You should go through a full range of motion with each exercise, and rarely are you to "lock" any joint, for that promotes injury. There are exceptions depending on what your personal goals are. THe above is a general rule. Cheers

going like half or 1/4 the way is what is commonly reffered to as the partial rep...partial reps and negatives are emphasized to a great degree in more advanced training but all the same it does no harm to give this methods a try...

when working out you should lock out because eventually when you get to a championship you must lock out in order for it to be a full rep
