I'm aware that power lifting is about gaining strength, but can women get into it without gaining the mass? Also what would be a good way to start?

well, you will always gain some mass with any type of serious weightlifting that is done correctly. now, if your question is can you get strong without looking manly, then definitely yes. remember, with any type of strength training, strength is the priority, not mass; it's all about how much you can lift that's important, not how much does it look like you can lift. Gea Johannsen is a great example: former track and fitness athlete, beautiful physique, and now she's training for the olympic weightlifting team!

to start, you must remember to keep your focus on the three lifts: the squat, deadlift, and bench press. everything else is an auxilliary to making these 3 better. also, forget about a no-carb diet - without the energy, you ain't lifting anything! as far as an individual program goes, give us some more info, like filling out your profile, and maybe we can help.

heck, this is just one more reason in favor of having a strength training program at FT (hint, hint guys)...........

I agree, a strength training program would be very cool, I look at those powerlifting sites and all I get is confused!

Strength training is awesome. I try and do it at least one week of the month. But I normally stick with the high reps. I want to gain strength mostly in the upper body, but also stay well defined. I have gained some good strength by doing this and not getting bulky.

Yes women can get all that strength but they cannot get the bulk unless they use steroids or some kind of anabolic stimulant...women just do not possess the natural hormones to look like men, and for good reason because I love the sleakness of women LOL woooohoooo
