Anyone out there that has advice for training to run a marathon? Planning on doing the L.A. Marathon in March 2003. I'm running 18 to 20 mile long runs at this time with 7 weeks to go.

Any suggestions, advice or tips you can pass on for my first marathon?

Hows your stregth training program?
I have improved both my 5K & 10K PR's by running less and
lifting more.
Try one of the ft exersize programs on this site.

18 miles is enough for a long run.
dont do any long runs last 2 weeks.
rest, stretch and carb0-load.
use "cytomax" drink at mile 13 and 20.
i am 50 and have run 6 nyc marathon under 3:30 using this plan...slowest time is when i over-trained on long runs.

You guys have my respect. I ran the Blue Angel Marathon in Pensacola about 10 yrs ago primarily just to be able to say I did it. Wellll, I did it but have absolutely no desire to ever do it again.
