Okay ladies. Help me here

I want to get my weight down to 120. Im thinking 1200 calories per day. I exercise with weights and cardio 6 days per week. Now this might sound incorrect with the calorie intake but Im very confused. When I lost before it was eating three meals per day on the WW 123 method. I lost 50 lbs. But plateau come and Im stuck. Help me girlfriends

Well, we're different people, but I was able to get to 120 lbs with an intake of 1400-1500 calories. As active as you are, I think 1200 calories would be too low. Try to keep your carbs at a moderate range, maybe 180-200 g, your protein should be around 1 g/lb body weight, and try to get at least 20% of your calories from fat. At least that's what I did. Good luck!

Ouch... 1200 calories huh... That hurts. I had a lady come into our gym last year give a very good seminar on this very same thing. She used to do 45 mins of cardio a day/ 6 days a week and brought her calories down that low. Somehow it took her the whole summer to lose 10 pounds.

Now, the next year, she ate 2000 calories and did only 30 mins of cardio, 3 times a week and lost over 10 pounds in only a few weeks.

As she explained it, the body likes to keep a balance. If you try to loose too much weight at once, then it kicks into starvation mode and puts your metabolism into slow motion and stores every bit of calories you ingest as fat (since fat takes longer to burn than muscle).

What she did by increasing her calory intake was trick the body into thinking it had ample amounts of nutrients. This made it easier for her to loose weight since her body wasn't stock piling the calories into fat.

Alot of bodybuilders try to trick their bodies into contest shape by doing a three day low carb then one/two day high carb diet. The end result is that at the end of the week, the daily calorie average was low enough to loose weight, but since you have high carb days, your body is tricked into thinking it's getting ample calories and doesn't slow your metabolisme down.

Just remember to keep you protein intake high (so you won't loose muscle mass).

Ummm, I hope this helps... I tend to go out on left field sometimes :)

Hey Ladies, I'm new to the board. I'm trying to loose 50 lbs by the end of the year. I tried to loose 20 over the summer, but it didn't work. Seven pounds was the most I lost and that was with 5 days of cardio, 1-2 hours per day. It left me frustrated and a bit resentful of the treadmill...lol. Hopefully I can figure out what I was doing wrong and make it work this time. If any of you have some advise or information on what has worked for you...Please Share !! Any little bit of information helps at this point...lol.
