I have had a stinging pain on the upper part of my spine. I have only had it for about two days. What should I do about it? It feels almost like a needle poking into my spine.

When did you first experience this pain...during a workout? If you injured it during weight training, you'll probably need to rest it as you use it a lot during upper body work. When I had lower back pain, I took Doan's pills and applied a little bit of unscented Ben Gay to help relax it. It could be as minor as muscle spasm, but don't risk getting it really injured.

If the pain continues even after a few days rest, consult your doc.

My main question is the same as rpacheco on how it started. For right now all I can say is Ice the area and take meds for pain. Hopefully its just a muscle problem.

it started during the wrestling season and got worse and worse. it calms down once and a while and then comes back.

I'm not big on running to the doc's but have a personally healthy respect for back injuries. If it's persisting, I'd have it checked out.
