Hi All,

I'm a slim bloke (23 years old) and weigh around 140lbs. I've put on 28lbs in the past year through eating a lot more.

I don't have the time to get to the gym in my busy life - I'd never see the kids! So, I have a 12kg kettlebell and a range of dumbells. Using just these what can I do to get to put another 28lbs on (as well as eating right of course)

Thanks

I have pairs of dumbbells from 5 to 80 lbs in 5 lb increments. It's enough for my workouts. Don't overlook body weight exercise like chin and pull ups, push ups, dips hand stand push ups [against a wall, squats, lunges, and calf raises. With the last 3 , you can hold weight to make it more difficult.

Dumbbells can be had cheaply if you look on a loxcal 'for sale web sight. My 60, 70 and 80 lb pairs cost more individually than I paid for a set that has 5 to 50 lbs and a rack.

Be creative. If you get to where you can do 20 chin ups, 50 push ups, 25 dips and 20 pull ups, you'll be fit.

Eat whole unprocessed food and lots of it. avoid soda and sugar. If you want to gain 30lbs, you will put on some fat during the process so you need to learn to count calories and track protein so you can cut the fat off as you gain.

How about body weight only as you can see it worked for me no one person has the same body type, so workouts can  vary one thing that wont change is the intensity you need when you work out

I think I mentioned bodyweight exercise but maybe not. I think very highly of body weight exercise. I keep the dumbbells because I can target and they feel good.

Truly one of the hardest part or one of the hardest parts of exercise is getting started working out until you start to see some results and when you do the rest is easy. I would say start with the reason you want to work out if it’s for health, looks or sports use that to motivate you I used people calling me a stick and weak as strength to keep going.

Cheers, guys.
Mostly looks and to get back into MMA - but not back at the lower weight classes.
Guess I'll have to just try harder and start!
