Let me start by saying I have nothing against barbells and dumbbells.  They are very effective tools as are bodyweight and kettlebells.  In fact, combine all of those elements and you have a dynamite arsenal to sculpt a great body and remain incredibley fit.

However, I choose to use kettlebells.  That's just me.  And I encourage others to find what works for them.

As I've gotten older I have also become more minimilistic, so to speak and am now in the process of exploring bodyweight movements combined with kettlebells.  I would like this particular forum to reflect KBs and BW.  So, welcome!

Oooohh how I LOVE minimalism :)

Can you give me some ideas to work with body weight? Specifically, legs?

I've experimented with decline push ups (love them!) and varying my pull ups (hate them!!) but need some ideas for increasing the load on the lower half.

Thanks for the thread Tim! This will be the focus of my next workout!

Well, I'm in the process of exploring this myself, too. A great start to legs would be body weight squats, lunges, walking lunges, jump squats, etc. Turkish Get Ups would begood, too.

Thanks Tim :)

Learned a few more...

Legs:
One leg squats - using a bench helped me get started
Tuck jump - similar to a jump squat with the added "tuck" of the legs at the top.
Wall sit - back flat against a wall.  Slide down until thighs are parallel to ground - now hold!

Arms/chest:
Push ups -  with one leg up
I also just discovered the space between my two desks..  perfect for dips!

Ah, the lovely one legged or pistol squat.. manage once to pull of five each leg in a set... took a lot of work to get there with no wall or anything for support.. I should start working on those again.

Tuck jump burpees are good.. :)  well, not really, but you know what I mean.

In a book I am working my way through slowly, there are a number of variations of pushups, etc..... I forgot how easy it is to make simple movements more difficult.

When you say 'incline pushup' which part of you is highest?  They are harder the higher your feet are.

Redistributing the weight from one side to the other till you are doing a legit one are pushup.  Then move on to the one arm/opposite leg pushup.  So, if your left foot is on the ground, your right hand is.  Sounds fun.  :)

Wow!  That's some serious strength.

The crucifix push up is out of the question for me. I can't tax my shoulders at that angle. I just managed 5 deep  divers but I used an ab roller for years. Dumbbell lunges with 2- 50 lb dumbbells in sets of 15 are killers for me. I really hate squat, dead, lunge and calf day with dumbbells but I make myself do them. Holding the dumbbells is the hardest part. I think my job wore my hands out.

Hi Amore. I'm new myself. I've found the website www.strongfirst.com to be very helpful with all things kettlebell. I'd also recommend the book 'Kettlebell: Simple and Sinister' by Pavel. It should answer all of your queries. Good luck!
