Hi Treberha, great question and I am sure many others face this situation!

A tight budget surely does make it harder to stay on a healthy diet but it IS possible. You can stock up on items such as yogurts, cottage cheese, whole grain breads or crackers, tuna, nuts, oatmeal, natural peanut butter, fruits, etc.

If your budget allows for it a low fat/carb/sugars protein bar or whey protein shake also help with your diet.

Also, eating or snacking throughout the day also helps to avoid binging on large meals. Mix up your own trail mix and carry that with you to class or snack in your dorm.

Best of luck and let us know how you make out.
