I'm a 51 year old fella and I started my first weight lifting program 2 months ago. When I started, I could barely bench press 110lbs, but this week I benched 165lbs after one of my workouts.
I work out about 100 minutes per week... I'm a low energy guy!

My goal when I started was to be able to get to pressing 225lbs 5 to 10 times in a row, and squat 350lbs. When I first started I could squat only 250lbs, but I don't know my maximum squat lift yet.

Thoughts anyone?

It sounds like you are on the right track. Sometimes the best workouts I have is when I hit one exercise really hard and call it a day. If it's working then stick with it.

Thanks for the replies, guys. In the last week or so I've gotten even stronger with my bench presses, now I'm up to 175LBS without a bunch of strain.
A couple of days ago I got a bit of a scare with one of my shoulders. I thought I ripped a muscle or something, because the darn thing was throbbing and I would get sharp pains when moving it back and forth, but the next day there was no pain at all. Amazing!

I assume I was having growing pains. That was a really weird experience for me, I have to admit!
