Hello, I'm currently 5ft 6in and weight around 170lbs.
My current goal is to try and get down to 140 in 3-4 months.

I've been eating around 1800 calories/day. I've been trying to spread out meals into 4-5 300/400 calorie meals.

I enjoy doing cardio the most, mainly running and playing basketball. I've been running in the morning (7-8 AM)for 30-60 mins, then doing weights around noon. Somtimes I do a second running sesson around 5:00. Throughout the day I play basketball when I have time.

I just started getting back into shape a few weeks ago, and so I just wanted to know if I'm on the right track.

Oops, I didn't mean to post yet, so I'll just finish it here.

A few questions I have:
1) Am I doing TOO much cardio, and could this be hindering me?
2) Am I going to be losing any muscle that I possibly would develop since I'm doing this much cardio?
3) Should I increase my calorie intake? I'm trying to create 800 deficit through the extra exercise.

Comment/Criticize PLEASE.

PS - First time on the boards, so hope I did everything right

If you are trying to lose 30 pounds all the cardio is good for you. I would suggest just making sure things are planned out well. For example: Having 2 days of just cardio and 3 days of cardio and weights. At 1800 calories a day you are going to have too burn it up with cardio. This is going to be trick. Do you have 30 pounds of fat to lose where you can avoid losing too much muscle?

I have some decent fat to lose around my waist, staomach, and thighs, and so I don't think that should be a problem.

But my concern is, if I'm doing all of this cardio, will the weight training days actually build muscle, or will the cardio just lose all the gained muscle along with the fat?

Also, on weight training days, I'm curreintly doing weights/light running and then heavier running at the night(Along with the basketball). Do I need to make changes for this routine?

Thanks again for the advice.
