Alright, I'm 5'6, 144 pounds, and my BMR is 1511. I work out three times a week. I would really like to lose some body fat. I'm taking a nutritional supplement called reliv, and it has everything I need as far as nutrition goes. So basically I want to eat only what's necessary to avoid letting my body going into starvation mode and shutting down my metabolism, would 1200 hundred be too few? should I up it to about 1400?

I'd say keep with 1400-1500. Also you could try reducing your carbs, and increasing your protein intake for a while.
