I've been exercising for about 4-5 weeks now. When I'm on the treadmill, I find it takes more to get to my target heart rate and keep it in the cardo zone. I do have a knee that can be a worry but so far no problems. I'm wondering if it's just as effective to keep my speed at a fast walk and just let the incline change or if I should try to jog and work towards running?

I would go with an incline if it is not to hard on your knee at a fast walk. This will get the HR up, eventually you will need to increase more. Keep in mind the more incline the more you work the quads.

Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.
