Hi! Has anyone done Body Pump before? I signed up for the class at my gym that is Tues and Thurs at 5:30 AM and Saturdays at 9:30 am. This is really to supplement my regular routine, but I get lonely. I'm social by nature and thought I'd like having the class to work out in. I wonder how effective it is.

Amy - it will lean you out, it is kind of like cardio- lifting. If you don't have aspirations for mass, give it a go - I am certified to teach it and really think it is a fun class. It will work your muscles, just not heavy or fully enough to stimulate any growth! You may or may not need to do additional weight training. Take it a few times and evaluate whether you feel there are muscles that aren't getting sufficient work. You will burn a lot of calories, which will help you get leaner. Be sure you follow it up with protein!

Excellent. Thanks for the tips! I plan to take the class in the AM before work and usually have Oatmeal for breakfast. I learned that I'm allergic to eggs :(, so I'll have to find another protien source following body pump. Even if it's just a protien shake. Thanks again for the tips!

So, the body pump class has been cancelled indefinately. One instructor quit, and two others are injured (that can't be a good sign!). They are having a hard time finding a replacement since the class is at 5:30 am. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to wait it out. :(
