Hey, I'm obviously new and I'm wondering if someone here can help me out. You guys seem to know what you're talking about so I'm hopeful.

Ok, so first of all I'm 16 and I'm pretty thin. I have an alright figure, right now I'm working on my abs with the infamous "8 minute ab exercise" and I'm loving the results.

Now my only main problem is the lower part of my body. The upper part and torso just don't match with the rest. You name it: thighs, butt, "baggy saddles" . It's terrible. And I feel like it's holding me back.
Last summer I tried doing lunges and running for 30 minutes 4 times a week - it backfired like crazy. Just became worse. Later on I figured out that:
1 - I was doing the lunges incorrectly
2 - running for anything less than 45 minutes increases the size of your butt and thighs

So I lost hope. I'm starting again but I'm horrified. I don't know what to do and I'm afraid I'll screw it even more.

I need advice. What should I do?
Running? Lunges?
I really don't need anything complicated - just to lose this shape.

And what do you think about this exercise?

I'm not sure about the "running less than 45 minutes increases the size of your butt". I've never heard that before. Although the longer you can run the better for you cardiovascular wise, but any amount of physical activity is a good thing.
You don't mention your diet anywhere in your question. You have to have balance. If you are only exercising, but still eating McD's and fatty teenager food, you are running an uphill battle. Do some research on this site about diet, you will find a ton of useful information.

How do you feel? That is the question
But I forget.. you dont expect an easy answer
When something like a soul becomes
Initialized and folded up like paper dolls and little notes
You cant expect a bit of hope
So while youre outside looking in
Describing what you see
Remember what youre staring at is me.

Lunges and squats have helped a lot with my thighs and butt. Diet too. I'm not obviously pearshaped because I'm braod-shouldered for a girl, but my upper body is smaller than my lower body. I would suggest trying to build some muscle up in your arms to even you body out visually. It helped me at least.
