Hello! I'm a newbie that's desperate to gain about 15-20lbs.

A little about me.... I'm 25, have two toddlers and weigh about 100lbs right now, I'm 5'3. I've struggled with gaining weight all my life. I've always been skinny (except when pregnant)and I'm tired of people saying to me.. "Geez, you're so skinny! Don't you eat?" In fact just the opposite. I can eat and eat and eat and not gain a darn pound. I'd really like to weigh somewhere around 115-125lbs. I've searched on the internet for how to go about it and I guess I'm just needing some motivation or better suggestions. I read that increasing my calories to total 3500 per day would get me about a 1-2lbs per week, but I hadn't seen any results so I got frustrated and gave up.

I'm open to any suggestions and ideas! Please help me gain some weight! I don't want to look anorexic anymore!

It really is as simple as if you are not gaining weight then you need to eat more. If you have trouble eating a lot of food look towards calorie dense foods like nuts, peanut butter, olive oil. You also probably have a pretty high tolerance to carbs, so I would add more things like potatoes and other carb rich foods. Just don't eat crap like wonder bread.

Oh I have no problem eating food! I eat constantly all day long and don't gain a thing. I usually eat 3 eggs w/ toast for breakfast and a yogurt. Then lunch I have a grilled cheese or some kind of sandwich and chips, maybe a pickle. I snack most of the afternoon til dinner... carrots, chips, few cookies (stuff like that) dinner I usually have red meat or chicken, salad, some form of pasta or potato, and two veggies. I snack after dinner until bed also. I figure I probably naturally eat about 2500 calories a day. 3500 wasn't hard for me to do at all, I guess I just got annoyed that I wasn't seeing any results.

I'm gonna give it a go again. Should I try for 4000 calories a day? Maybe I just metabolize so quickly that 3500 instead of about 2500 doesn't make a difference to my body? No clue here. :( Are there any specific foods to eat a lot of to gain or is having a balance of everything most important?

Just keep adding calories until you start gaining weight. I would really consider uping your carb intake if anything. Carrots are not going to give you the calories you need. I am not saying that you should stop eating carrots, but they have practically no calories. I might add some meat to breakfast and maybe some granola to the yogurt. . If you are not eating in between breakfast and lunch then start. For snacks add some nuts. Those babies will give a big calorie boost.

Great! Thanks! I'll give adding to breakfast and including a snack a go.

Now, my next question is will exercising make gaining take longer? I have abs, buns and thighs of steel which I occasionally do, and I detail cars 30 hours a week for my hubby which I'll consider cardio. Its very rigourous.

lol! People say that to me all the time! I guess losing weight is just as hard as gaining weight for some.
