What are ways you use avacados in your diet?? When I was a kid my Dad use to take an avacado and spread it on bread and just have it as a sandwich!!

Instead of Cheese and or Cream in a taco use Avocado.

Toss some in a salad.

Put some in a Sandwich.

On top of Omelets or Scrambled Eggs and Salsa.

In a Burrito.

Mmm..avocados! In my omelettes (sauteed onions, spinach, feta cheese and...avocado...that was breakfast), in my salad (chicken, spinach and...avocado...that was last night's dinner). One of my favorite mid-day meals--cottage cheese, spinach and...avocado. On top of burgers, everytime (unless you're already at your fat quota for the day). Avocado toast is one of my favs, although, since I pretty much don't eat bread anymore, not so much. Avocado by itself. Avocado makes almost everything better. Where would you not add avocado? Anytime you would use butter, but you don't want the saturated fat...avocado! Okay, maybe not in anything sweet, or in a shake. But...avocados rule!

Thanks. I like avocados, but it's never something we ate with any regularity in our family.

I love it with cold shrimp! I just cut up some shrimp and add it to mashed up avocado with a bit of lime lime and spread it on a wrap or just eat it as is...yummy. I don't eat it too often though just because the fat content is soooo high...healthy fat, but it does push up the calories pretty quick.

Yeah, I wish I had thought about them during my muscle gain cycle. It'll be tough to add them to the diet on the fat-loss cycle though :(

Well...you have to eat some fat, don't you? On Amy's diet plan it is almost a challenge to meet the fat requirement unless you're eating fatty meats or...avocados.

Fat makes up 30% of my calories, but I am on the fat-loss cycle now, so that only gets me 73g of fat per day. I am sure I can fit them in, but would have been very useful when I was taking in 3600 calories and 120 grams of fat :)

I'm wondering how much to worry about avocados vs. correct fat intake amount? I had half an avocado with some beans and a salad, but that was 15 grams of fat and almost half of what freetrainers.com said I should eat. Therefore, today I'm 10g over what I'm supposed to be. How do you guys balance these high fat yet good for you foods with the fat allowance?

Yeah, you absolutely have to watch how much avocado you're eating because they are primarily a fat source. The diet some of us are following on the challenge has a ratio that includes 30% fat and with eating only lean meats, eggs whites, sometimes we actually have hard time getting our daily fat quota and avocados help with that. I would say have 1/4 avocado...1/2 is pretty rich.

I've seen that challenge diet. I'm still deciding which will suit me best the one freetrainers gave me or the challenge one. Both are for weight loss, and the only difference seems to be the ratios. I guess the challenge one is for faster weight loss.

My problem with avocados is that once I cut one, I have to eat it...even with putting the other parts in a zippy with lemon juice, it still turns brown within 24 hours. That equates me eating the whole thing within two days. Anyone know any tricks to avocado preservation?

For me I am consuming around 3500 calories/day with 30 % fat, so avocados are a good food food for me.

Hmmm...keeping the seed in it helps, but even if it turns dark it is only the outside layer and it just looks ugly. I just scrape it off and eat the rest.
