What is the best way to loose belly fat while weight training? I'm currently training cardio(TREADMILL 45 min) and lifting five days a week. My major area of concern is my abs. I know that the trad mill is burning 500 cals a day plus what ever cals. from the weight training (Specific body part) I worked on that day. I am eating 5 small meals a day along with my protien shakes and other supplements. ( roughly 40 grms of protien)

I guess my question is am I defeating the whole purpose of trying to loose my belly fat and gain muscle mass at the same time?

Thank you for your time!:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

You can't sit and stand at the same time!

Your either training to gain or to lose take a pick and stick with 1 as both are done with weights, cardio and diet.

There are cases were you may gain a real small amout of muscle but it would either be because of muscle memory of the past or your new too lifting and don't have a ton of fat to take off, if you have enough fat on you to take months to shed your muscle you gain while training in the long run will come off along with the fat but the GREAT NEWS is if you keep lifting and takeing protien in, your going to save a lot more muscle as to where if you where to do cardio only you would lose a ton of muscle.

So take a pic at what you want to gain or lose and keep in mind you can lose and then gain muscle but if you have a lot of fat right now your going to get even fatter on a mas gains program.

I beleive your best route is too burn some fat but not to a six pack point because it would make no sence but get to the low teens in Body Fat then go for the muscle and once your to the point your satisfied with your gains you cut back down a tad to get the lower body fat%.

I had a trainer in the gym tell me a guy at 26% body came in and wanted to bulk up and he claimed that the way to do it but I disagree because I was 27% when I can in and if I where to go on a bulk at that time I would have gained fat and muscle and in order to get to the lean body I wants I would have wasted all that time bulking because to shed that amount of fat you will have to lose muscle so I fell you get lean but not 6 pack lean then start from there.

It's been my rule of thumb Get lean and build a strong core then go from there!
