i havent worked out since around january and a really need to get started again...i live close to a gym and i was thinking of taking boxing classes. would it be ok to take these classes

Absolutely! I would think though that if you were to start some boxing that you would have some type of coach that would be able to give you suggestions on that as well. Start out with some lighter weights, higher reps and progress from there and don't forget about streching before, during and after. Hope everything works out for ya.
