I know I feel better when I go to the gym after work but find it difficult to get back after being absent, like now, being on holidays and back to work on Monday.
I know I feel better when I just go for a walk, and I can walk to the gym from work.
I consider housework and walking up/down my stairs countless times exercise in itself.

It totally agree. I mean I am always doing housework and i am feel like I am too tired to exercise. But i know that doing housework is not counted as the full exercise you need.

If you put some muscle into it,and really work at working up a sweat I don't see why housework would not be considered a cardio workout. It certainly wouldn't replace all other forms of cardio...but I wouldn't discount it entirely either.
