Hi guys,
Just joined up and have started on the 8 week mass program, just trying to iron out some begginer woes and get into the swing of things. Diet and training wise, reading up there are so many differences in opinions and its quite hard to apply it to my situation. Anyway, I turn 20 next week, I'm about ~182lbs, 5'11".
At the moment I have the basics, 2 dumbells, a barbell, E-Z Curl bar and a chin up bar. No bench as of yet (I'm skint :( )
My aim is to loose some body fat, while at least maintaining my muscle mass, my plan was to reduce calorie intake to about 1900 a day by have 6 meals, ~300 calories each. I used one of the calculations in the FAQ sectio to come up with this. My diet has been:
7-7:30 - Scrambled Egg (2 egg whites, 2 whole) and 2 Ryvitas
10.00-11 - Tuna (1 tin)/Chicken salad + nuts OR Tuna (1 tin)/Chicken + pasta with a tomato sauce
12.30-1 - Usually the other half of the above (I make a big tub)
2.30-3 - 8.oz milk + 2scp 100% Whey + 2tsp Wholenut PB
5.30-6 - Tuna (1 tin)/Chicken salad + nuts OR Tuna (1 tin)/Chicken + pasta with a tomato sauce (As long as its differnt to morning meal)
9.30 - 8.oz milk + 2scp 100% Whey + 2tsp Wholenut PB
If I'm working out I will have a recovery drink of the whey afterwards (Workout usually 7pm-8.) and miss the last one. Any comments? I'm pretty sure its not perfect but I'm after suggestions :)
On the 8 week mass builder I work out 3 times a week, which equates to 1 workout per bodypart per week, now after reading through these forums that doesnt look like the best way to do it, I think 2 workouts per muscle group per week and change reps from between 20 and 10 to between 12 and 8? Perhaps using the same exercises FT provides but ignoring the reps and say doing
Mon - Legs / Calves
Tues - Chest / Triceps
Wed - Back / Shoulders / Biceps
Thurs - Legs / Calves
Fri - Rest
Sat - Chest / Triceps
Sun - Back / Shoulders / Biceps
Or would it be ok to have a longer workout period and maybe combine 2 areas?
I'm pretty psyched about joining the gym in July, due to my lack of equipment at home, I would invest in some but there is also a lack of space to put it all :(
I'm sure theres something I left out but can I have your views on the above?
Regards
James
