I'm thinking about trying to do a bodybuilding show next may. Right now I'm 245 with 22% bodyfat and stand at 5' 10". I don't have any injuries or ailments that would prevent me from doing any exercise. I would like some suggestions please. Also, I'm a college student with limited income.

Sixteen weeks in from next may, roughly the beginning of the new year, start your cut diet and stick to it. By the time the competition rolls around, you should be at the desired BF%.

Those that have actually done competitions before will shed much more light on this for you. I have just supplied the most basic of necessities. Others will explain the diet in more detail. I do know by the time you get to the last couple weeks you cut out fat completely. Beyond that, I'd have to research it as well.
