The BMI body mass index is used to determine if one is under weight, over weight or even obese.. when most say they want to lose weight it is fat they want to lose. This idex gives you a good idea where your at. Your body fat percentage is the percent of fat your body contains of course..

For example if you were 150lbs with 10% bodyfat you would have 15lbs of fat and 135lbs of lean body mass.

150 x .10 = 15lbs body fat

150 - 15 = 135lbs lean body mass

There are alot of sites out there that will measure your BMI but I don't find that they are very acurate. I would stick to Calipers and stick with it. As far as the body fat index im not familar with. Sounds to me like just another name for the BMI someone may use..
