hi, im just curious as to whether taking a week off from weight training means you 'lose the previous weeks gains'. i have a friend who seems to know his stuff and told me this after i took a week off because of a slight back injury. is this true?

Absolutely not! Your friend doesn't know jack if he's telling you that. Every several weeks, I take at least a week off to recuperate. Your body needs the rest periodically, so give it to it, and you'll see the rewards.

The real gains are made outside of gym. You go lift weights to obliterate your muscles...The strength and muscle gains start at home with proper nutrition and lifestyle behaviors. Taking time off from time to time is essential. Your friend doesn't know jack....really want to know how you came to the conclusion that he 'knows his stuff'....

Alot of it I found is comming in with the right mind set. If you sit around pissed off saying " oh i'm gonna be so weak, feel like crap" etc. then you will. The mind is very powerful to influence the body.
