Okay, I found some information to improve my pull ups which is part of a physical fitness test for my job.

I have started a weight training program from FT.com but the program for the pull ups says to do them every other day. If I am doing that plus the weight training, am I going to be working my muscles too much? If so, how should I proceed?

dart, what I was taught is basiclly if the next time you work that bodypart, your still sore from the last, exercises with less intensity and and less rest. This will keep blood flowing to the affected areas and actually help.

Depends on what you are doing with the FT program, and what your body can handle.
Mojo- I don't think I can remember a day where I wasn't sore, but I can usually avoid overtraining. There are different levels of soreness that should be worked through, and this is not the only indicator of overtraining. I'm pretty sure there was a good post on OT a while back, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure where, maybe the powerlifting forum. Run a search.

Iron and chalk.

Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run.
