Is Green Tea good for weight loss? It has potential. Green tea contains caffeine which helps some people in their weight loss efforts through thermogenesis. One of green teas biggest draws is it might be useful as a glucose regulator. It's said that it can slow the digestive enzyme called amylase. I drink green tea daily. Not necessarily for weight loss, but because:
1. I like the taste
2. Its full of Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG, the "miracle" ingredient you hear so much about) which is a SUPER anti-oxidant.
As far as amazing results go - I have never personally gotten amazing results from any one thing and its hard to pin point exactly what works if you are taking a combination of things. However, I have taken supplements, stepped up my cardio and watched my diet to succeed. Summary: I think green tea would make an excellent addition to your supplement regimen even if it only helps knock out your free-radicals. :)

Green tea may be a cancer fighter. More evidence comes out almost daily. This is probably what the majority of GT research has been done on. While the data is promising, it is still limited.
There is early evidence, though not conclusive, that regular intake fo GT may reduce the risk of CAD. Several very well designed studies have demonstrated significant risk reduction in folks who drink GT. The same can be said for stroke and hypertension.
People have long used GT or energy. A new study published by the american Physiological Society demonstrated that GT extract markedly improved endurance capacity in mice(1). Swimmiing time to exhaustion was measured. The mice with the BT extract had prolonged endurance capacity by 8-24% and the effect was accompanied by a stimulation of lipid metabolism.
The newest research on GT has been in the area of weight loss. Research suggests GT promotes weight loss by favorably affecting lipid metabolism in the blood, and through the stimulation of thermosgenisis.(2)(3) GT increased energy expenditure over a 24 hr. period.
I would recommend 250-500 mg. standardized GT extract daily. Make sure the label reads standardized to catechins content or EGCG content. I would recommend taking in brewed green tea also.

Should I take green tea supplements in addition to green tea liquid?

For strictly weight loss benefits and energy, I would. I do this when dieting myself, not when bulking. You cannot get the dose shown to have some of the fat burning benefits in studies at just brewing doses.
I always have my brewed tea regardless, and I would have it if nothing else for the antioxidant/health support.
Too much evidence is appearing at this point to deny the benefits.

I find green tea to be a great thirst quencher. I make a big pot of green tea and i put it in the fridge to make it cold. I put it in water bottles and take it to the gym with me. Not only does it help with energy but it quenches my thirst. I usuaslly go through 2 water bottles a work out because i get so thirsty, and i end up feeling crampy at the end and have to pee every 10 minutes  but with the green tea i only go through one bottle! It tastes REALLY good cold, so i strongly recommend it
