I will be finshing my junior year of high school in about 2 months. I should really start thinking about what I want to go into in college. Nothing really strikes me to much besides teaching and being a coach or being a personal trainer.

My question is what kind of degree is there in college that would help me become a personal trainer(4 year study?)? And what kind of money can be made if you are a trainer (per year average)?

I really dont know to much about what a personal trainer does and how you become one so any ideas and suggestions would be appreiciated!

Anyone can go a get a short course certification in personal training, and that will help you take care of clients in a gym setting. However, if you want to do more than that and go further, I suggest what my friend did: she rec'd her PT certification from ISSA, and also her BS in Kinenseology (now working on her Masters). With this combo, not only does she train at a gym, but she is also eligable to be hired on sports teams at a trainer, physical re-hab, etc. Hope that helps...

Take it from someone whom was "uncertain" what to pursue for their future career and is now the ripe ol' age of 30, do something you're passionate about & that'll motivate you. I'm now looking to change careers from a usual 9-5'er into the world of Personal Training.

Start with www.issaonline.com After my own research I've found ISSA (albiet more expensive than ACE certification) to offer more than the other certification options. You can take the course via online & they offer loads of support options.

Best of luck!

ISSA is definately a great certification organization. And trust me, the money is well worth it if this is what you really want to do.

Hey Dahayz...do you know if you can take the signature series courses via ISSA online prior to taking any of their certification courses? They've got a great selection of signature courses that I'm also interested in.

Yeah actually being a sports team trainer would be way cool. I never really thought about that but that would be extremley cool. I am definatley want to do something that I am passionate about...I would rather make less money doing what i want than doing something I dont love. I love sports and being a sports team trainer would be a dream. Thanks for the help and idea on that REV!!!
