You need to stop eating all proteins?!!!! Okey if you doc told you that then I really hope it's only for a very short period. Protein is as impotant as fat and carbs. Our bodies need it to survive.

Like Nina says, proteins are needed to live, so perhaps there is a substitute your doctor could recommend to you?

You should get a second opinion. Go to another doctor. I can't believe that you should completely cut protein from your diet, it is one of the major building blocks of the human body, without it you'd fall apart (not literally).

I have to agree with therainmaker, get another opinion. Try to find a physician that is more sports oriented. Unfortunately, most doctors are idiots when it comes to nutrition, especially for us active individuals. Get another opinion.

I find that really strange as the others here do. Just to educate you a little, our body is made up of water and protiens. What kind of doctorate does this person have? Please seek out another doctor.

Well, I must ask you this: Have you been intaking exorbant amounts of PROTEIN SHAKES? If so, this is probably the cause. In contrast to what many fitness instructors will tell you, there IS such a thing as TOO much protein. (We need protein, yes, but all things in moderation - the most healthy people on this planet understand this concept; the yin and the yang. A balance must be achieved.) I have asked more than one doctor about this issue. They are very iffy when it comes to those hazardous shakes. A friend of mine has irritable bowl syndrome from drinking two to three protein shakes a day. (his Doctor verified this for him) His stomach swelled up like a balloon - sure, he had muscles everywhere else, but his abs were horrible. So, this is as a warning: be careful how many of those protein shakes you consume. I would knock it completely out of your diet. You should be eating healthy food only. Take the natural way. :) Also, I'm not too pleased with what this website has told me in terms of what my daily requirement for protein intake is. I weigh 100 lbs, and it told me I need 125 g of protein per day. I specified that I just wanted to tone up. That is INSANE.
My bowels got all screwy because of drinking protein shakes. NOT GOOD. Another thing to take into account is this: if most protein comes from dead meat, exactly how much dead meat are you consuming in your day, and do you think that is healthy? I do eat chicken and fish, but very discretely. I see people who work out and they look 'great' on the outside, but they treat their bodies like trash. What's the deal with that? And if one is to be vane, then why not be vane from the inside out? Because the outside of your body is a mirror to what's going on on the inside.

like a lot of the other folks, i'm really confused about your kidney problem. course, i'm not a doctor. however, you say "skinny vegetarian", which makes me think that maybe your doc said no meat? if that's the case, try tofu! just look online for some easy recipes and make sure you get the type that's specified - firm, soft, etc.
