I am having chest pain, but a differnet type. It is my sternum (chest bone). It pops and it really hurts when it does. I have an appointment Friday. I have had it checked out but the ER did nothing to help find out why it pops. It feels like when your elbow locks and you have to slowly let it pop or relax. Well, my sternum won't relax it just pops and it is loud. I know that the popping is because the cartildge between my sternum and ribs is loose, and the bones are rubbed together. Is this something common. It started after I got Pregnant with my oldest and with my other pregnacies it gradually got worse. I know the pregancy caused elasticity in my carlidge but omg. Sorry had to vent some.

Lori - just wanted to let you know that your post isn't being ignored but most of us tend to shy away from posts that need diagnosis and aren't necessarily workout related.

oh I know I was just had to get it out. Some people do not know that it is even a condition. I know I am not alone. It does have a name, i cannot remember it, but I am actually doing something about it. I was just venting. I guess I wont do that anymore.

Lori - my post wasn't meant as criticism - just a possible reason nobody had answered. :)

I also get a weird chest pain occasionally, but I never hear or feel any popping. I sort of feel it when I flex my chest or stretch my arms really far back, and feel it near the middle of my chest also (like the bony part in the middle). I was thinking about getting it checked out by a doctor, but it only happens occasionally and I didn't think it was that big of a deal, not sure though anymore.

Well don't keep us in suspense...did the Dr tell you what it was.
I just read this and recently had inguinal hernia surgery, however in my research I learned you can also get a hernia near the sternum that comes through the middle of the abs (where the crease is on people with a 6 pack). So that was the first thing I thought of when I read this. That's only speculation though as I'm not a Dr by any means...I don't even play one on TV or anything.
