Hello All,
I have started to do some running on my tredmill, I started by doing fast walking and am up to jogging at short intervals (4-5mins) and power walking (1-2mins) but I am having a problem with the running part...my ankles really hurt when I start, like I twisted them or something. Am I not jogging right? Is there anything I can do to keep my ankles from hurting? I am still jogging...it hasn't stopped me...once I start jogging for a while it goes away. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanx,
Destiny:)

You might need orthodics(sp?) for your feet if you have fallen arches. I had to get some from a foot doc because my knees were hurting, and it fixed the problem.

Are you jogging everyday? If so, you may need to just ease up a bit. do some leg strength work during the n-b-tween days.

Make sure you have a really good pair of running shoes. Many running shoe stores will analyze your gait(sp?) and determine which shoes are best. Also, try some ankle strengthing exercises like placing front of feett on step and lifting heals up and down or writing the alphabet on the floor with the balls of your feet. If they continue to hurt, get them checked by a Dr or Podiatrist.

Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

I have been doing the weight training program, abs program and keeping up with cardio....I was doing only the tredmill (walking/running) in the beginning but heard that your body will get used to it so I started doing aerobics also for cardio. I do warm up (brisk walk to jog) every day for 10-15 mins before every workout. I have also noticed that my lower back strains and pops when squatting, walking etc...could that have something to do with my ankles hurting to? I thank you all for your suggestions and will definately check up on them.
