Hi - Any thoughts? I like "The Firm" tapes as a cardio and weight workout but read on this board you should not work any muscle group more than once a week. I use 10 lbs of weight at most in the tapes which are 1 hour long and work all muscle groups out pretty well. Lots of lunges, curls, push-ups, abs, etc. Is this ok to do on off days? I use it as cardio along with time on a stepper. My goal is definition and weight loss. Thanks!

Great Idea; and great way to lose the fat. That muscle group thing is a good recomendation if you wanted to gain muscle mass.

That's what I thought. Being only 10 pounds I thought it might be fine. Thanks for quick reply!

If you are wanting to get definition and weight loss, it sounds like you are doing the right thing. Just divide the body parts up where you train them every 4 days only or so. For definition, this is fine. Once you reach your goal of definition, you may want to do more of a maintenance type workout. For mass, you only want to train about 6-7 days between each muscle. Sounds like you are right on track with the workouts, but don't forget the all important thing, diet. By diet I mean plenty of protein, or you will not like the weight you lose. Don't just go by the scale. Also have your fibrous carbs, helping keep your metabolism revving. You want to burn fat, not muscle.

Thanks. I do need to concentrate better on diet. I intend to stick to high vitamin cereal, salads (with lots of veggies) and lean meats. I like the nutrition tools and have been trying to get as many of my meals updated to help with calorie counting and nutrition. I need to find high calcium foods low in fat (or eat Tums as a supplement?)

Try and eat cottage cheese (low fat), it's high in protien and you will get a calcium bonus! If I'm not mistaking it is around 137mgs per 225 gr.

I love the Firm workouts and have quite a library of them, dating all the way back to 1986! I have always used one on the weekends or on an off day if I didn't lift the day before. Even though they are light weights, I still think you should have a day of rest in there, especially since they work out your entire body. I sometimes will pop one in instead of going to the gym, just for a change of pace!
