I just received a phone call from Hema Quebec (Red Cross) asking for my blood type. I generally train on Monday's, and they want the blood for Monday or Tuesday. Will it have any effect on my training, or recovery?

definitely. anytime i donate, i usually take that week off from training. think about it: blood is used to feed and heal the muscle, as well as remove waste from it. when you donate blood, your body is already freaking out because a substantial amount of it's life juice has been sucked out, and it is trying to replace it. the last thing your body needs is the additional stress of training, and all you'll do is end up hurting your progress.

Thanks Rev. Good time to take a break anyway. I have a rare blood type and they called for me yesterday. Happy New Year

Just while we're at it, how long after body piercing can you donate. I know there's a time frame, but I don't know the length. Something about risks related to AIDS and hepatitis.

-------------- Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. - -- Aristotle

It will effect your performance as an athlete a little bit; but hey - its a good deed.
