I've been working on my diet plan, and I've quickly come to the conclusion that I am not getting anywhere the amount of protein I thought I was from my diet. :) So, I'm thinking about making some protein shakes because I can't really afford buying the stuff from GNC. I'll do a search and try to find out what to make a shake with, but if anyone wants to post a reply anyways is very welcome too!

My main question though, was about the PB & J sandwhich. Would eating one sandwhich be a good idea before working out for the extra protein? I'm not sure if the fat and what not would harm me more then do good. I'm just trying to find more ways to get protein in my body, without gaining 100 lbs of body fat. Thanks for the help!

Nope, peanut butter (the natural kind) has good fats in it.

Where's bropie when we need him????? Bropie's the man when it comes to pb&j...he loves them and eats them all the time...on whole wheat bread!

Great, thanks for the reply! I'll have to add this into my daily diet then for the extra protein.

If you add powdered milk to your peanut butter it gives you more complete protein. Milk and peanut butter work well together. It doesnt taste bad either.

 ksmith.. thanks!

i eat one before every workout.. it gives me a ton of energy, and isnt too filling. whole wheat bread is key for slow releasing energy, and the peanut butter boasts healthy monounsaturates and muscle building proteins. look for a jam that is predominantly natural fruit, and no added sugars, etc.

I eat them too! Well, 1/2 of one. That and a 1/2c. SF applesauce about 1 hr before workout.
I use natural PB, SF jam and whole grain bread! YUMMY!

Does the jam offer anything besides taste? I ask because I don't have any currently, but if the jam helps with my diet (carbs, protein, calories?) then I'll be sure to pick some up.

You can just PB, I do that sometimes just to mix it up. I add the jam mostly for taste. The natural PB doesn't have as much flavor as the reduced fat Skippy I enjoy so much!
No need to run out and get some. :)
