Is this a good PWO shake? I am 6'2" and 170lbs.
40 grams of dextrose and 1 scoop of 100% whey mixed with watter.

Well I didnt get any love here so I did some research elsewhere and I found something cool that other people might like. This is some good info on PWO shakes and it has a cool calculator to help determine the amounts that you need. Doesnt give specific ingredients but check it out.

A post work out shake should always be accomanied by an insulin booster such as dextrose or glucose for glycogen compensation and transportation of amino acids into cells but we all have different levles of insuline responciveness so the only correct formula is the one that works for you.

I would say 40/50 is a good combination but if your a person that takes a lot of sugar during an average day you may need closer to 90 grms of carbs PWO or more but this could decrease your insuline responciveness even more and put you at higher risk of developing diabetus. It would be far better for one to wheen them selves off sugar for a while and get a blood sugar test and consults a doctor before experimenting with large doses of dextrose or glucose.
