Hey. I'm 5 foot 9, 220 pounds. I've been on atkins diet before lost alot, was 175. I went off the diet and gained it all back but I'm trying again and I realize this time that it's a lifestyle change, not just a diet. During school, I will be involved in weight training 5X a week, should I be doing low weight/high rep or the opposite, and what are some cardio things I can do before school to get about 20 pounds off before school (got a month before school)
and is low carb (high protein) the right way to go??? Thanks for the help everyone!!!
also, what would be a good weight program for lifting 5 simoltaneous days a week, i hear your muscles need about a day to grow after you work out so should i switch upper/lower/etc??? any links to good routines for a 17 year old?? thanks!!

personally, im against dieting. for extreme situations, yes, it is probably beneficial, but i think learning what to eat is much more important than restricting your intake. check out the 'nutrition and diet' forum post-its for some advice..
in terms of your training, your reps depends on your needs. typically, lower reps build more mass and strength, and higher reps is good for sculpting.
for your cardio, if you have access to a gym, you could hop on an elliptical machine or a stairmaster. you could also go outside for a run or a bike ride, or do either of these at a gym. higher intensity, shorter duration cardio will burn more fat, but again, you dont need to get over technical with it. just work hard, and the results will show.
