leesh - eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean protein.

You are 14, still growing - you need calcium from ,owfat milk or other dairy products, and you need lots of nutrients.

The best way to know if a food is good for you is to look at it. Is it close to its natural state (an apple, as opposed to apple pie) or has it been refined, had sugar added to it, been stripped of its nutrition?

You don't have much control, as a teen, over what food is in the house, unless you get involved with the grocery shopping and meal preparing.

At 14 i would go to the library and pick a new cookbook each week and prepare a meal for my whole family from the cookbook. I would ask my dad to get the right ingredients, accompany him to the grocery store, and do all of the prepwork and cooking myself.

Learning to cook is a valuable skill, as is learning to navigate a grocery store. try to include yourself in these activities.

I seriously doubt any parent would object to their child's request for healthier food choices.
