My best advice to you is to get a nutritional plan on here. Try to follow it. I have been stationed in Kuwait for month and a half and have already lost 20 pounds just by cutting my calories in half. I usually do the body fat loss weight lifting program that is provided to me on this site. I do it for 45 minutes. Then I run on either a treadmill or elliptical for 45 minutes. I started out though only going 20 minutes. I suggest the same. Since you are more of a bigger guy I would try the elliptical machines and stationary bikes. Treadmills could be a little hard on your shins and knees.
I have eaten a lot of turkey, chicken, salad w/fat-free dressing. Watch all your saturated fats too. It's a challenge and you have to be commited. There has been plenty of times i've had KFC, Pizza Hut, Cheesecake, and many other foods waived in front of me while i've been working out. I have turned all down, it is all about commitment my friend.

Quoting from grand88marquis:
I just joined a major gym and don't feel like paying $1200 for a trainer. I want to know what kind of workouts I should be doing, looking to burn fat and add a little muscle. I'm 6'0 tall and 315 pounds. Burning fat is #1 on my list but would also like to add some muscle. Also what kind of diet I need to be on is confusing to me. Any help would be appreciated.
